2 Delta flight attendants fail breathalyzer earlier than flight to JFK

Two Delta flight attendants failed a breathalyzer earlier than a global flight from Amsterdam to New York’s JFK Worldwide Airport.

The crew members — one male and one feminine — had been faraway from the flight and fined on Friday morning, in accordance with the airline and Dutch police.

Based on Dutch legal guidelines, flight crew will not be allowed to devour alcohol 10 hours earlier than a visit.

The feminine flight attendant was seven instances over the authorized restrict and fined 1,900 euros (roughly $2,000), police mentioned. The male flight attendant was fined €275 (about $290) for being 0.02 over the restrict.

One other feminine flight attendant from a distinct airline was fined €1,800 (round $1,900) for being 6.5 instances over the restrict. The three had been flagged throughout a three-hour window the place police screened 445 pilots and flight attendants at Schiphol Airport, in accordance with AviationA2Z.

“Delta’s alcohol policy is among the strictest in the industry and we have no tolerance for violation,” Delta Air Traces mentioned in an announcement.

AviationA2Z reported the flight was solely delayed 20 minutes earlier than departing and arrived stateside forward of schedule.

In March 2024, Lawrence Russell, a Delta pilot, was sentenced to 10 months in a UK jail after displaying up intoxicated earlier than a flight from Edinburgh to JFK.
