On March 31, 1995, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was gunned down inside a motel room at a Days Inn in Corpus Christi, Texas, by Yolanda Saldivar, a former trusted worker accused of embezzlement.

Within the 30 years since her tragic demise, the Tejano queen’s star has by no means shone brighter. Selena has all however turn into a saint for hundreds of thousands of Latinos, a totem for contemporary American Latinidad. Her music — a mix of genres that ranged from Tejano, música Mexicana, pop and dance — impressed a brand new technology of artists to embrace biculturalism
