9 FDNY firefighters injured battling Richmond Hill, Queens blaze

9 firefighters have been injured, two critically, as they battled a smoky early-morning blaze that tore by a two-story Queens residence Friday, the FDNY stated.

The heavy blaze broke out contained in the 111th St. residence close to ninety fifth Ave. in Richmond Hill at about 7:10 a.m., officers stated.

Greater than 100 firefighters and EMS personnel have been deployed to battle the flames and look after the injured.

The house’s white stucco exterior was coated with thick black soot as heavy smoke poured out of alley-facing home windows on each the primary and second flooring, footage of the fireplace present. Two residents of the constructing suffered minor accidents together with the 9 firefighters, who introduced the blaze below management by 8:45 a.m.

All 9 have been taken to space hospitals for remedy and analysis.

The FDNY Fireplace Marshals have been dispatched to find out what sparked the fireplace.
