Dallas Cowboys defensive finish Marshawn Kneeland died Thursday morning, the staff introduced.
“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the staff stated in an announcement. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”
Kneeland was 24.
Neither Kneeland’s agent Jonathan Perzley or the Cowboys disclosed particulars of how the second-year participant died.
“I am shattered to confirm that my client and dearest friend Marshawn Kneeland passed away last night,” Perzley stated in an announcement. “I watched him battle his method from a hopeful child at Western Michigan with a dream to being a revered skilled for the Dallas Cowboys. Marshawn poured his coronary heart into each snap, each apply, and each second on the sphere. To lose somebody along with his expertise, spirit and goodness is a ache I can hardly put into phrases.
“My heart aches for his family, his teammates and everyone who loved him, and I hope they feel the support of the entire football community during this unimaginable time. I ask that you please give his loved ones the privacy and compassion they need as they grieve this tremendous loss.”
The Cowboys drafted Kneeland within the second spherical of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Western Michigan. In 18 complete regular-season video games (4 begins), he recorded 26 tackles and one sack.
