The road the place the sky meets the ocean is asking to the brand new “Moana.”

The primary teaser trailer for the live-action Disney movie launched Monday options star Catherine Laga’aia singing a number of strains of her character’s signature “I Want” track because the footage provides glimpses of the island and folks of Motunui, the demigod Maui, the seafaring Kakamora and Moana’s clumsy rooster Heihei.

“I am a girl who loves my island and the girl who loves the sea,” Laga’aia as Moana sings within the opening moments of the trailer. “It calls me.”

Followers of the unique animated film will acknowledge the scene of a younger Moana enjoying with the ocean after seeing a seashell on the shore. Talking of the 2016 movie, Dwayne Johnson, who voiced the shapeshifter demigod and hero of males within the animated “Moana,” can even painting the live-action model of the boastful trickster. Directed by Thomas Kail, the live-action remake will comply with Moana, who goals of being a wayfinder and exploring the ocean. She leaves Motonui in quest of Maui and the Coronary heart of Te Fiti to assist save her folks.

Along with Laga’aia and Johnson, the “Moana” solid consists of John Tui as Moana’s father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams as her mom, Sina; and Rena Owen as Gramma Tala.

The trailer ends with Laga’aia triumphantly singing, “I am Moana.”

The animated “Moana,” with Hawaiian actor Auliʻi Cravalho within the title function, grossed $643.3 million worldwide throughout its preliminary run. Its follow-up “Moana 2” was one among three movies launched in 2024 that crossed the $1-billion mark on the worldwide field workplace. Cravalho serves as one of many govt producers of the live-action movie, together with Kail, Scott Sheldon and Charles Newirth.

The live-action “Moana” will hit theaters July 10.
