‘Superman’ comedian present in a California attic sells for file $9.12 million at public sale

It’s a fowl, it’s a aircraft … it’s a Superman comedian past most of our value vary!

A pristine copy of “Superman” No. 1 offered for $9.12 million at Heritage Auctions on Thursday, making it the most costly comedian e-book ever offered at public sale. The closing value smashed the file beforehand set by one other Superman-related comedian, a replica of “Action Comics” No. 1, which offered for $6 million via Heritage Auctions in 2024.

Superman made his comedian e-book debut in 1938 in “Action Comics” No. 1. The anthology comedian is commonly credited as kicking off the superhero style in comics. The recognition of the Man of Metal — created by author Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster — led to the launch of his personal comedian e-book collection in 1939.

Along with the launch subject of “Superman,” the mom’s comedian e-book assortment included problems with “Action Comics” Nos. 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21.

Based on Heritage Auctions, this copy of “Superman” No. 1 is one in all simply seven recognized copies with a CGC grade of 6.0 or increased. A CGC graded 8.0 copy of “Superman” No. 1 offered for $5.3 million in 2022.
