Ten months after the top of New York Metropolis’s largest transit-worker union was ousted over allegations of sexual misconduct, one other ousted union chief is suing for the main points of the ex-president’s severance settlement.

Patafio, who on the time was a member of the union’s government committee, says within the criticism filed Monday that neither he nor the opposite members of the manager committee had been supplied a written copy of that settlement, and had been requested to approve it primarily based on an oral abstract supplied by then-acting, now-current president John Chiarello.

“We must explore how we can cancel this deal,” he wrote. “The membership hates it. It makes us look bad, real bad. And in truth it just isn’t right.”

The swimsuit seeks a courtroom order permitting Patafio and his two co-plaintiffs — union members Zachary Arcidiacono and Haile DaBreo — “full access to examine and copy” the severance settlement.

Patafio has not been with out his personal troubles within the union. In August, he was ousted from his management place and faraway from the manager committee for reportedly attempting to demote a TWU rep who was allegedly dishonest on his bus-driver spouse with one other bus driver.

The union cited Patafio for making an attempt to mete out self-discipline unilaterally. Patafio at the moment drives a bus in Brooklyn.

“JP is a disgraced bus driver,” a TWU Native 100 spokesperson mentioned in an announcement responding to the swimsuit. “The executive board, the local’s elected governing body, voted overwhelmingly to remove him from office.”
