An Indian man awoke on a funeral pyre moments earlier than it was to be set on hearth after a health care provider skipped a postmortem, medical officers stated Saturday.

Rohitash Kumar, 25, who had talking and listening to difficulties, had fallen sick and was taken to a hospital in Jhunjhunu within the western state of Rajasthan on Thursday.

Indian media reported he had had an epileptic seizure, and a health care provider declared him lifeless on arrival on the hospital.

However as a substitute of the required postmortem to establish the reason for demise, medical doctors despatched him to the mortuary, after which to be burned in line with Hindu rites.

D. Singh, chief medical officer of the hospital, informed AFP that a health care provider had “prepared the postmortem report without actually doing the postmortem, and the body was then sent for cremation”.

Singh stated that “shortly before the pyre was to be lit, Rohitash’s body started movements”, including that “he was alive and was breathing”.

Kumar was rushed to hospital for a second time, however was confirmed lifeless on Friday throughout remedy.

Authorities have suspended the companies of three medical doctors and the police have launched an investigation.
