Francesca Du Brock, chief curator of the Anchorage Museum, has been named the winner of the 2025 Marica Vilcek Prize in Artwork Historical past for her holistic and complete strategy to exhibition curation. A lifelong member of her neighborhood, Du Brock’s follow is grounded in social engagement, place-based storytelling, and environmental justice.

“A strong relationship to people and place animates and inspires all that I do,” says Du Brock.

Just lately, Du Brock curated How you can Survive, a 7,500-square-foot exhibition developed out of a earlier present on northern feminism.  The exhibition offered artworks by 16 ladies and nonbinary artists, an set up of Alaska Native cultural belongings, and a supplies library.

How you can Survive and its forthcoming catalog, edited by Du Brock, contemplate the thought of survival by means of collective care and study concepts of interconnectedness, listening, and caretaking.
