Mayor Adams on Wednesday known as the prospect of latest metropolis funds cuts a “hypothetical” that he doesn’t need to entertain but, as his group seeks to alter Gov. Hochul’s thoughts over her announcement that she gained’t give town extra state migrant disaster funding this 12 months.

Jiha testified Tuesday that with out new state help, Adams’ administration should “backfill” the $1.1 billion gap, both with spending reductions or income will increase, as town funds should by legislation be balanced. Adams has stated repeatedly he’s not contemplating any metropolis tax hikes.

Brooklyn Councilman Justin Brannan, a Democrat who chairs the Council’s Finance Committee and co-leads the funds negotiations, argued that similar to prior to now few cycles, town has sufficient cash to avert cuts.
