SEE IT: MTA releases new NYC subway map recalling iconic 1972 Vignelli design

The MTA Wednesday launched the primary wholesale replace of the NYC Subway map in additional than 50 years, paying homage to the long-lasting 1972 subway map designed by Massino Vignelli.

The map, with clear traces and blocky landscapes, is supposed to simplify wayfinding and assist riders parse transfers.

“It’s the first time we’ve had a full scale revision of the map since 1979,” MTA chairman Janno Lieber stated.

“It’s simpler to read, especially with respect to the connections. [And there’s] a little more accuracy in the geography than the old map.”
