3 killed, 3 injured in Main League Fishing contest boat crash

Three folks had been killed and at the least three others injured when two boats collided throughout a Main League Fishing match in Alabama.

The crash occurred on Lewis Smith Lake throughout Day 2 of the Deal with Warehouse Invitational, Main League Fishing stated in a press release confirming {that a} “serious boating accident” had occurred Wednesday morning.

Main League Fishing canceled the third and ultimate day of the match that had been scheduled for Thursday on the lake in Cullman, about 70 miles north of Birmingham.

John Okay. Clark, 44, of Cullman, and Jeffrey C. Little, 62, of Brandon, Miss., each drowned after being thrown overboard, stated the company, which is investigating the crash.

One other three folks had been injured, WBMA reported, noting that Broom was one in all 5 council members for the city of Snead, Ala.

“This is a heartbreaking moment for our entire organization,” Main League Fishing govt vice chairman and common supervisor Kathy Fennel stated. “Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of those affected by this tragedy.”

Apart from saying competitor Flint Davis of Leesburg, Ga., was “involved,” Main League Fishing was mum on particulars concerning the crash. Davis was among the many injured and was hospitalized, WALB reported.

“I want to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers,” Davis stated in a publish on his Instagram Tales. “I ask that you keep me and all of the other affected people and families in your prayers. I’ll let you guys know more when I can.”

The invitational is a three-day competitors held yearly on the in style leisure vacation spot in Cullman, wherein skilled anglers vie for as much as $115,000 in prizes, in addition to a spot within the Deal with Warehouse Invitationals Championship held in September.

“Smith Lake is a cherished destination for both locals and visitors, and this incident has deeply impacted our entire community,” the Cullman County Tourism Bureau stated in a press release. “We are grateful for the swift and dedicated response of our emergency personnel. We remain committed to supporting our community however we can.”
