New York Metropolis Mayor Eric Adams, NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, group leaders and activists destroyed 3,575 seized unlawful weapons on April 24, 2025, in an ongoing mission to finish gun violence and maintain New Yorkers protected. The group celebrated the destruction of three,375 seized unlawful handguns and 200 rifles. The firearms — a fraction of the greater than 21,400 seized firearms underneath the Adams administration — had been demolished at proof destruction vendor Reworld in Westbury, New York, to make sure a protected and safe disposal course of.
