A Mexican navy vessel hit the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday evening throughout a promotional tour in New York Metropolis, the highest of its mast brushing the enduring span because it sailed by way of the East River.

The Mexican navy stated in a submit on X that the Cuauhtemoc is a naval academy coaching ship and was broken in an accident with the Brooklyn Bridge.

The boat collided with the bridge round 8:30 p.m. in keeping with police. The extent of any accidents was not instantly clear.

Video footage on social media exhibits the ship — flying an enormous Mexican flag —  scraping the underside and its masts collapsing onto the deck.

The NYPD and FDNY couldn’t instantly verify the variety of accidents.
