Dean Cain, the previous star of “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” laments the most recent tackle the Man of Metal — one which likens his story to the immigrant expertise in America.

In a latest dialog with TMZ, Cain — who starred as Clark Kent/Superman within the hit Nineties TV sequence — questioned: “How woke is Hollywood going to make this character?”

The 58-year-old actor railed towards filmmaker James Gunn and his iteration of the Kryptonian icon after the director declared in an interview with the London Instances that “Superman is the story of America.” Within the interview, Gunn described his hero as “an immigrant that came from other places and populated the country,” including that his movie, starring David Corenswet within the title function, is “mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”

Gunn, who has been an outspoken critic of President Trump, made his feedback because the Trump administration carries out its aggressive crackdown on immigrant communities throughout California. Since raids in Los Angeles started June 6, federal immigration brokers have arrested almost 2,700 undocumented people, based on knowledge launched Tuesday by the U.S. Division of Homeland Safety.

Cain was clearly not a fan of Gunn’s remarks. Cain, who has not seen the movie but, criticized the thought of “changing beloved characters” and recommended creating new authentic characters as a substitute. When he starred in “Lois & Clark,” Cain was the fourth actor to painting Superman onscreen, filling within the crimson boots of Kirk Alyn, George Reeves and Christopher Reeve. He claimed that the superhero “has always stood for truth, justice and the American way.

“The American way is immigrant-friendly, tremendously immigrant-friendly, but there are rules,” he added, earlier than his apart about individuals coming to the U.S. to hunt alternative.
