Mayor Adams and his marketing campaign gave no indication Monday that his longtime confidant Ingrid Lewis-Martin can be requested to cease her volunteer work on his reelection marketing campaign, regardless of a contemporary spherical of corruption costs towards her.

“The mayor welcomes the support of all New Yorkers,” Todd Shapiro, the mayor’s marketing campaign spokesman, stated in an announcement. “Ingrid is not a City Hall staffer or campaign employee —what she does on her own time is her business,”

“Last week, I spoke about the case,” the mayor stated. “That’s a wrap.”

Final week, Lewis-Martin was hit with a second spherical of costs, with the Manhattan district lawyer alleging she took at the very least $75,000 in bribes in change for doling out varied favors for political allies, similar to steering migrant shelter contracts to most popular distributors, derailing a motorbike lane undertaking in Brooklyn and fast-tracking constructing permits for a Queens karaoke bar.

The marketing campaign’s statements about Lewis-Martin mark a special tack from final week’s announcement that Winnie Greco, a former adviser who not too long ago got here below scrutiny for giving a reporter a potato chip bag full of money, was suspended from doing any additional volunteer work on the marketing campaign.

“We are shocked by these reports,” Shapiro stated final week. “Mayor Adams had no prior knowledge of this matter. He has always demanded the highest ethical and legal standards, and his sole focus remains on serving the people of New York City with integrity.”

Greco, who was ensnared in a federal probe previous to the potato chip bag incident, has not been been charged with any wrongdoing.

Jesse Hamilton, a high actual property official for the town, was indicted together with with Lewis-Martin and resigned hours after he was charged.

The brand new indictments come on high of a separate set of legal costs final December alleging Lewis-Martin took a further $100,000 in bribes. Lewis-Martin resigned as chief adviser to the mayor simply earlier than that first corruption indictment.

“Ingrid is like a sister to me. I love Ingrid. … I have known her to be a hardworking, dedicated member of city government for 40 years,” Adams stated Friday.
