One individual was killed Wednesday in an early morning home hearth on Lengthy Island.
The blaze broke out round 5:45 a.m. at a house in Oakdale. A number of 911 calls led to 9 departments arriving on the scene.
“When we first showed up there was heavy fire showing through the front of the house, the window and going through the roof,” West Sayville Fireplace Division chief Patrick D’Onofrio stated.
