Burberry has partnered with the Centre for Sustainable Trend (CSF), based mostly at London Faculty of Trend (LCF), College of the Arts London (UAL) on ‘Reimagining Supplies’, a brand new pupil competitors that reinforces its give attention to circularity via design.

BA pupil Clara Gröning received the competition, incomes an internship and a money prize.
Finalist designs have been showcased at LCF’s East Financial institution campus and Burberry’s Regent Road retailer.

Over a few months, 20 shortlisted college students have been challenged with an actual trade transient to current new and thrilling methods of reinventing surplus supplies, together with Burberry’s iconic trench gabardine, Burberry Examine lining material, leather-based and a choice of trims, into unique merchandise.

The profitable design belongs to Clara Gröning, BA (Hons) Trend Design and Improvement pupil at LCF. Gröning’s unique piece, alongside 9 different chosen finalists’ work, was showcased on the ‘Reimagining Materials’ exhibition held within the Wolfson Gallery at London Faculty of Trend’s new residence at East Financial institution. The ultimate designs have been additionally displayed at Burberry’s London Regent Road retailer. In addition to receiving a money prize, Clara will be part of Burberry for an internship this autumn.

Supported by Burberry’s Early Careers staff, the ‘Reimagining Materials’ programme builds on a variety of initiatives that Burberry gives to assist proficient younger folks and up to date graduates achieve first-hand expertise alongside trade professionals, together with its current collaboration with the Nationwide Saturday Membership and partnership with The BRIT College.

“Burberry to me is very synonymous with heritage. I have always been fascinated by brands with strong visual brand language and company code, because it is an interesting challenge to adhere to this, whilst still reinventing yourself. I think that was my favourite part of this competition,” Gröning mentioned.

“We are delighted to be able to partner with Centre for Sustainable Fashion (CSF), London College of Fashion (LCF), UAL to bring this competition to life. With the support of our incredible judging panel, we were able to create a competition with CSF that really challenged the students to think outside of the box and build circularity into a practical design brief. We were so impressed by the calibre and creativity of all the designs, and by how dynamically each student applied their design skills throughout the competition,” mentioned Helen Davis, VP product technique and member of Burberry judging panel.

“The Reimagining Materials competition is a magnificent manifestation of how relationships can create knowledge, skills and capabilities that contribute to a prosperous world we can all enjoy. Relationships are formed through mutual curiosity, shared interests and openness for co-learning; qualities we have seen throughout the phases of the competition, clearly embodied in the thoughtful circular designs of our finalists and winner,” mentioned professor Dilys Williams, director of Centre for Sustainable Trend at London Faculty of Trend, UAL.
