“Producers are motivated, and they are serious about growing the scene,” says Allison Dyen, a comic book initially from Boston who participated in 2018’s first Palm Springs Worldwide Comedy Competition on the fashionable Lodge Zoso. “It’s welcoming, cheaper and calmer than L.A., but you still have easy access to San Diego, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
