NBC’s “Today” is conserving the collection of its subsequent co-host within the household.
The community introduced Thursday that veteran anchor Craig Melvin, a part of the community’s morning franchise since 2016, is taking on for the departing Hoda Kotb. Beginning Jan. 14, Melvin will take Kotb’s chair alongside Savannah Guthrie throughout this system’s flagship two hours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Kotb, 60, who changed Matt Lauer after he was fired over sexual harassment allegations in 2017, introduced in September that she is leaving this system to spend extra time together with her younger kids.

“Craig’s shown he has the talent and the range to cover all that we do here at ‘Today,’ ” Libby Leist, senior vice chairman of “Today,” stated Thursday in a press release. “And he does it without ever losing that Southern charm.”

Melvin can also be the creator of “Pops,” a memoir about his relationship together with his father who overcame addictions to alcohol and playing.
Melvin will proceed to co-host the third hour of “Today” with Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones.
