A West Virginia Nationwide Guard member who was shot final month within the nation’s capital is being transitioned from hospital acute care to in-patient rehabilitation, a physician stated Friday.

Employees. Sgt. Andrew Wolfe was airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital Heart with a important gunshot wound to the top on Nov. 26. Wolfe and Spc. Sarah Beckstrom had been ambushed as they patrolled a subway station three blocks from the White Home. Beckstrom died the subsequent day.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan nationwide who was additionally shot through the confrontation, has been charged with homicide. He has pleaded not responsible.

Wolfe, 24, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, about 75 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., was assigned to the Drive Help Squadron, 167th Airlift Wing of the West Virginia Air Nationwide Guard. He has labored as a lineman with Frontier Communications since early 2023, the corporate stated.

Wolfe joined the Nationwide Guard in 2019, the yr he graduated from highschool. At Musselman, Wolfe was an engaged and high-achieving pupil “who embodied the Applemen spirit, contributing positively to our school community both academically and athletically,” Principal Alicia Riggleman stated.
