Topeka, Kansas. Deborah Dalton’s career has taken a path as remarkable as the worlds she creates on the page. Long before she became an award-winning author and filmmaker, Dalton began her professional journey in the hospitality industry working in hotels. Those early years gave her a grounding in discipline, organization, and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life—skills that would later serve her well in creative storytelling and the collaborative world of film.

Dalton is best known as the writer of the All Things Impossible series, a sweeping high fantasy saga that has earned critical praise and a devoted readership. The debut novel, Crown of the Realm, introduced fans to a richly imagined world of elves, magic, and peril, capturing the essence of epic fantasy while offering fresh twists on beloved tropes. Readers and reviewers alike have praised Dalton’s ability to weave together complex characters, high stakes, and deeply immersive world-building. The series went on to win awards and solidified Dalton’s place as a significant voice in contemporary fantasy. There are seven novels slated in the series with the first two available currently: Crown of the Realm and Heartstealer.

Not content to stay within the boundaries of one medium, Dalton expanded her creative reach into filmmaking. She served as writer and producer of the sci-fi short film Event Virus, which went on to earn many awards on the international film festival circuit. The film demonstrated her ability to translate compelling, speculative ideas into a cinematic format, combining her strengths in narrative with visual storytelling.

From novels to film festivals, Dalton’s career is proof that a love of storytelling can flourish in unexpected ways. What began as a career in hospitality has blossomed into a body of work that spans multiple art forms—each driven by her imagination, her discipline, and her dedication to exploring the impossible.
