We held the fortieth anniversary draft of my long-time league, the OFFL, Tuesday evening — and what an evening it was. The Proving Floor Bar & Restaurant in Highlands, N.J., rolled out the purple carpet for us. Between the top-notch food and drinks and the gorgeous views of the Manhattan skyline peeking over Sandy Hook, it’s exhausting to think about a extra lovely spot on the Jersey Shore. Big due to Krystal, the supervisor, together with our bartenders Brandon and Chad (Supreme Ruler) for taking such nice care of us.

And sure, I as soon as once more landed Josh Allen for my workforce, the Buffalo Troopers. That alone made the evening even sweeter.

Now, let’s get to my 2025 Draft Day Ideas:

OFFENSIVE LINE RANKINGS MATTER

Grade A

Baltimore Ravens: All starters from 2024 return. Raven RBs led NFL in yards per carry.

Buffalo Payments: All starters from 2024 return. Allowed a league-low 14 sacks.

Denver Broncos: Greatest line in NFL. Even their backups may begin on most groups.

Los Angeles Chargers: Poised to take a big step ahead in 2025.

Philadelphia Eagles: The unit excels within the Tush Push. Test the standing of LT Landon Johnson, who was injured final Sunday.

Grade C- to D

Dallas Cowboys: Group wants some work and should keep away from accidents. Projected starter rookie LT Tyler Guyton is out 5 weeks.

Cleveland Browns: Allowed second most sacks in NFL and had been backside 5 in run blocking. Perhaps Nick Chubb was higher than we thought?

Houston Texans: Unit lacks any star energy. Onerous to be optimistic for 2025. Chubb’s new dwelling. D’Oh!

Tennessee Titans: Ranked thirty first in Jeff Mans’ Smash Report, the one improve was the addition of OL coach Invoice Callahan.

Giants: To cite Armando, “This group sucked last year, and it’s not much better this year.”

Miami Dolphins: With key gamers retiring, this worst line within the NFL will rely closely on younger linemen.

GET YOUR QB EARLY

Elite QBs Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels and Jalen Hurts are projected to high 430 fantasy factors. The following tier (beginning with Bo Nix and Patrick Mahomes) tasks nearer to 340–350 factors. That 80–90-point drop is very large and difficult to make up elsewhere.

ACT YOUR AGE

To cite Fantasy Guru Jeff Mans, “Derrick Henry will be 32 years old this season, and since 1946, there has been exactly one season of 300+ fantasy points by a running back age 31 or 32. That was Curtis Martin in 2004 with the Jets. In fact, there have been just four seasons ever by a 31- or 32-year-old RB of 250+ fantasy points. Henry is great, and maybe he defies science for another season, but it seems foolish to pay top price for an elderly RB who doesn’t play on passing downs with a super mobile QB that can steal short-yardage touchdowns.”

HANDCUFF YOUR RBs

I stress this yearly. If in case you have an incredible RB on a top quality workforce, snag his backup within the draft. The oldsters that handcuffed Jordan Mason with the oft-injured Christian McCaffrey final 12 months had been rewarded with Mason’s high ten efforts in September and October. Extra prime handcuffs: Bijan Robinson/Tyler Allgeier, James Conner/Trey Benson, Breece Corridor/Braelon Allen and McCaffrey/Isaac Guerendo.

WHO’S OUT?

Questionable for Week 1:  QB Matthew Stafford, RBs Joe Mixon, Najee Harris, Tyjae Spears, WRs Darnell Mooney, Christian Watson, Brandon Aiyuk, Chris Godwin, Terry McLaurin, TE Isaiah Seemingly.

Out for your entire season: RBs Jonathan Brooks, Alexander Mattison, WR Rondale Moore.

Going through suspensions: WRs Rashee Rice (TBD) and Jordan Addison (will miss the primary three weeks).

DRAFT DAY SURVIVAL KIT

Deliver cheat sheets, notepads, and a charged cellphone or pill.

Don’t neglect a pen (sure, individuals nonetheless use them).

Know your league guidelines. Ask for a rulebook. If it doesn’t exist, write one.

Draft together with your head, not your coronary heart. Don’t stack your workforce with gamers out of your favourite NFL workforce.

Don’t panic in case your goal will get taken. Keep sharp and versatile. Nobody likes a draft-day whiner.
