FBI, Homeland Safety say drones in N.J. will not be a menace

The FBI and Division of Homeland Safety stated they discovered no proof to recommend the clusters of drones noticed flying over New Jersey posed any menace to the general public, although they offered little different details about the mysterious sightings riling the Backyard State.

The companies in a joint assertion launched Thursday added that they don’t have any cause to consider the aircrafts are tied to a “foreign nexus.”

“Upon review of available imagery, it appears that many of the reported sightings are actually manned aircraft, operating lawfully,” the assertion learn. “There are no reported or confirmed drone sightings in any restricted air space.”

It comes after the White Home earlier this week issued a press release taking pictures down hypothesis the drones had been coming from an Iranian “mothership” anchored off the East Coast.

Gov. Phil Murphy has additionally labored to calm startled residents within the weeks for the reason that drone sightings started. He has repeatedly stated they don’t pose a menace to the general public and that the matter stays below investigation.

The drone sightings in New Jersey began again in November, within the days main as much as Thanksgiving. Residents reported the “fixed-wing aircrafts,” some them in packs as large as eight, zipping across the airspace over mid- and northern New Jersey, together with close to  Donald Trump’s Nationwide Golf Membership in Bedminster and the Picatinny Arsenal Navy Base in Rockaway.

There have additionally been unconfirmed studies of drones flying over New York, together with close to LaGuardia airport. On Thursday, the New York Metropolis Emergency Administration Division addressed the sightings, saying it had not gotten any official studies of drone exercise.

“We take seriously the threat that can be posed by unmanned aircraft systems, which is why law enforcement and other agencies continue to support New Jersey and investigate the reports,” the FBI and DHS stated.

“To be clear, they have uncovered no such malicious activity or intent at this stage,” the assertion concluded. “While there is no known malicious activity occurring in New Jersey, the reported sightings there do, however, highlight the insufficiency of current authorities.”
