The Giants hope to have two of their prime playmakers again within the combine this offseason.
Normal supervisor Joe Schoen expressed optimism about large receiver Malik Nabers and working again Cam Skattebo, each of whom are recovering from season-ending leg accidents.
“Malik is trending to hopefully be ready for training camp,” Schoen stated Tuesday after new head coach John Harbaugh’s introductory press convention.
Requested if Nabers, who tore the ACL in his proper knee in late September, is on monitor for the beginning of coaching camp, Schoen replied, “Things can change, but that’s the hope.”
Coaching camp usually begins in late July.
Schoen’s replace took place two weeks after Nabers stated he was “not really sure” if he could be prepared for Week 1 of the 2026 common season.
The star large receiver used a cane as a precaution in the course of the Giants’ season finale at MetLife Stadium on Jan. 4.
“If my body doesn’t feel right, then I’m not going to go out there,” Nabers stated on Jan. 5.
Nabers, 22, shortly emerged as a go-to weapon throughout his rookie season in 2024, when he totaled 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and 7 touchdowns in 15 video games.
He completed with 18 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns in 4 video games final yr.
Nabers is the No. 1 receiver for a Giants unit by which Wan’Dale Robinson — who led the staff with 92 receptions and 1,014 yards in 2025 — is ready to change into a free agent. The Giants may construct out that group by taking a receiver with the No. 5 choose in April’s draft, with Ohio State’s Carnell Tate and Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson thought-about the highest prospects.
Harbaugh stated Tuesday that he spoke with Nabers over the cellphone whereas the latter was rehabbing in Los Angeles.
“I just love talking to him, his joy, his excitement,” Harbaugh stated, including, “Had a lot of really good ideas.”
The Giants count on an earlier return from Skattebo, who sustained a dislocated proper ankle, a fibula fracture and a deltoid ligament rupture in late October, requiring emergency surgical procedure.
“He’ll be fine,” Schoen stated Tuesday. “He’ll actually be prepared for the offseason program on April 6. He should be good.”
That timeline is even sooner than the one Skattebo, 23, prompt earlier this month, when he expressed optimism he could be prepared for coaching camp, if not OTAs.
Skattebo rushed for 410 yards and totaled seven touchdowns in eight video games as a rookie final season, throughout which he turned a fan favourite due to his bodily fashion of play.
“Time’s gonna tell, but [I will] take it easy,” Skattebo stated. “I’ve got plenty of time to get back to it.”
