January 6 rioter turned “EX-MAGA Granny” Pamela Hemphill has formally rejected the pardon bestowed by President Trump upon taking workplace — and is doubling down in opposition to what she calls the administration’s “gaslighting” and “lying narrative.”

The now 72-year-old Idaho girl famously declared in January she wouldn’t settle for a pardon for her half within the riot. In 2022, Hemphill pleaded responsible to illegal parading, a misdemeanor cost that received her two months in jail, three years of probation and a $500 high-quality.

“I don’t want to be a part of that,” she advised CNN on Monday. “Plus, it would be a slap on capitol police officers, the rule of law — no, I couldn’t dare live with myself taking a pardon. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.”

Hemphill stated she has been working with Sen. James Risch, R-Idaho, to get the U.S. Division of Justice to formally acknowledge her refusal.

“Ms. Hemphill’s non-acceptance is noted, and there is no further action needed,” the Justice Division’s Workplace of the Pardon Lawyer wrote on April 2 in reply to Risch’s letter on her behalf. “Additionally, our office will not issue Ms. Hemphill a certificate of pardon and will refrain from requesting any notation of pardon on her criminal history record.”

Risch’s workplace stated he couldn’t remark as a result of “privacy concerns,” CBS reported.

By all accounts Hemphill is the one one of many greater than 1,500 individuals convicted of crimes dedicated that day to eschew a pardon. This week, she doubled down on her criticism of the president’s actions and gave some perception into her change from diehard Trump supporter to rule-of-law champion.

Her realization began regularly after she left jail, she stated, when she began questioning why anybody would assist individuals who had injured and attacked officers. Her personal expertise demonstrated that her fellow Jan. 6 defendants’ claims that they’d been denied due course of “was all a lie,” Hemphill charged, noting the FBI and Justice Division had been nothing however skilled to her.

“I had due process, I was guilty,” she advised CNN’s Pamela Brown. “And so I thought, I can’t be a part of this. No way. I’m not going to be a part of Trump’s lying narrative.”

After exposing a lie considered one of her fellow right-wingers had advised for private acquire, Hemphill stated she was gaslighted, smeared, and kicked out of a Twitter group she’d began. So she switched gears.

“I started a gaslighting space on X, and all the sedition hunters and democrats came in and started bringing receipts,” and her earlier beliefs toppled as she found “one lie after another,” she advised CNN.

“They’ve lost their critical thinking,” Hemphill stated of those that blindly assist Trump. “I never realized that a president could become a cult.”
