Hollywood loves a sequel, and Jane Fonda’s reboot of the Chilly Struggle-era Committee for the First Modification gained traction Thursday because the star-studded signatory checklist lengthened and the actress spoke extra about their mission.

Fonda introduced on Wednesday that she had launched a brand new iteration of the committee, initially created in 1947 to oppose the federal government’s campaign towards Hollywood figures accused of getting communist ties.

Fonda’s well-known father and fellow Oscar winner Henry Fonda had been a member of the unique committee, alongside a slew of A-listers like Humphrey Bogart, Frank Sinatra and Lucille Ball.

Now, greater than 550 actors, filmmakers, musicians, comedians and others within the leisure trade have joined collectively for the same trigger to face up towards “forces of repression.”

So many of our fathers and grandfathers fought in wars to protect the rights that are now being taken away from us.”
