Keens Steakhouse, one of many oldest eating places in New York Metropolis, has been bought to a Texas-based restaurant group.

Tilman Fertitta, the billionaire proprietor of the Houston Rockets and CEO of Landry’s hospitality, reportedly purchased the Midtown chophouse and its 16,000-square-foot property for $30 million, in accordance with Crain’s New York.

Landry’s is the corporate behind Rainforest Café, Nook Retailer and Bubba Gump Shrimp, amongst different fine-dining and fast-casual chains.

Keens Steakhouse was opened by Albert Eager in 1885 after he labored as a part of the Lambs Membership, a famous theater and literary group. The thirty sixth St. steakhouse shortly grew to become a hangout for writers and actors, a few of whom would scramble into the rear door for a fast mutton chop between acts on the close by Garrick Theatre.
