Mayor Adams known as Zohran Mamdani a “communist” Wednesday, ratcheting up the rhetoric aimed on the Democratic mayoral frontrunner and echoing latest feedback made by President Trump.

“Number one, he’s not a Democrat, he’s a communist,” Adams stated from a Bronx press convention in response to a query about Home Minority Chief Rep. Hakeem Jeffries not but endorsing Mamdani regardless of assembly with him twice.

Mamdani is a democratic socialist, and Adams’ label mirrored President Trump’s frequent assaults on Mamdani — and different political opponents by branding them as communists. Trump has known as Mamdani a “communist” and has stated that he would flip New York Metropolis into “a communistic city.”

“It speaks volumes that Eric Adams would rather recycle Cold War insults than deal with the exhausting list of corruption and crises consuming his City Hall,” Dora Pekec, a spokesperson for Mamdani, responded.
