The NYPD is beefing up safety at vacation markets across the metropolis in response to a lethal assault that focused a Christmas market in Germany on Friday.

“We are closely monitoring recent events in Germany and coordinating with our partners,” tweeted Rebecca Weiner, NYPD deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism. “While we have not identified any specific or credible threats to NYC at this time, resources have been deployed to various Christmas markets and other locations out of an abundance of caution.”
