Protesters with the pro-Palestinian group Inside Our Lifetime marched from the United Nations in Midtown Manhattan to Columbia College in Morningside Heights on Friday, the place they joined with college students for a vigil commemorating Al Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif, who was killed by Israeli Protection Forces in a focused airstrike whereas reporting from Gaza.

The demonstrators — who carried Palestinian flags and indicators studying, “Globalize the Intifada” and different slogans — began marching round 4 p.m., pausing exterior a number of landmarks, together with the Israeli Embassy, NBC Studios and Trump Worldwide Lodge to shout chants. A big police presence flanked the protesters as they marched uptown.

An NYPD spokesperson stated police have been “aware” of the protest, however wouldn’t say what number of officers have been deployed to look at over the demonstration.

Outdoors of NBC Studios at Rockefeller Plaza protesters shouted, “Every time the media lies, a neighborhood in Gaza dies!” On the Trump Worldwide Lodge, by Columbus Circle, they yelled, “Donald Trump you cant hide! You support genocide!” One individual carried an indication studying, “Abolish Israel.”

Inside Our Lifetime posted on X round 9 p.m. that the rally had ended with a vigil for Al Jazeera journalists Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh and cameramen Ibrahim Zaher and Mohammed Noufal, who have been killed in a focused bombing assault by Israeli forces earlier this week. The Israeli navy has claimed that Al-Sharif was a member of Hamas’ navy wing — which Al Jazeera disputes — as justification for the killing.

A video posted by Inside Our Lifetime on social media after the demonstration confirmed graffiti in Carl Schurz Park studying, “Long live Anas,” “Glory to our Martyrs” and “Death to IDF.”

There have been no arrests, police stated.
