And identical to that… “Sex and the City” followers who go to Carrie Bradshaw’s well-known Manhattan condo have pissed off the real-life proprietor — a lot so {that a} gate might be put in to maintain them out.

It’s been over 25 years because the brownstone at 66 Perry Road within the West Village was first used as the outside of Carrie’s condo on the smash hit sequence. However it’s remained a must-see vacationer cease for die-hard viewers, a few of whom have been accused of trespassing, vandalism and disturbing the peace of neighborhood residents.

Proprietor Barbara Lorber has had sufficient and filed an utility with New York Metropolis’s Landmarks Preservation Fee to put in a stoop gate on the backside of the historic brownstone’s steps.

“My home is now a global tourist destination,” Lorber wrote in a background assertion, requesting approval to construct a metal and forged iron gate to maintain pesky intruders away. “At any hour of the day or night, there are groups of visitors in front of the house taking flash photos, engaging in loud chatter, posting on social media, making [TikTok] videos, or just celebrating the moment.”

She mentioned some guests have gone as far as to ring the doorbells late at night time, paint on the steps and carve their initials into the door body.

“After 20-plus years of hoping the fascination with my stoop would die away and fans would find a new object for their devotion, I have acknowledged we need something more substantial,” she defined. “In order to regain a reasonable quality of life for our tenants and ourselves: we need to install a proper gate.”

Lorber’s proposal was accepted on Tuesday following a public listening to, although the Landmarks Preservation Fee mentioned she should work with them to “simplify” the gate’s design, ABC7 New York reported.

The constructing was constructed in 1866 and is a part of historic district of Greenwich Village. Lorber has owned the property since 1978.
