Robert Laemmle, who took over operating the Laemmle Theatres chain from his father, died on Thursday at age 89.

Laemmle’s loss of life was confirmed by his son Greg, the third era of Laemmles to run the native string of film homes. Robert Laemmle, often known as Bob, died on the Berkley East Healthcare Heart in Santa Monica, the place he was receiving care after a fall at his residence in Santa Monica on Dec. 23. Born in Paris on Sept. 5, 1935, Laemmle quickly got here to America together with his dad and mom. His father Max Laemmle had been working for his cousin Carl Laemmle, the co-founder of Common Photos, in Paris earlier than coming to Los Angeles in 1938.

He’s survived by kids Greg Laemmle, Jessica Laemmle, Yvonne Ascher, Michelle Ascher, David Ascher, Carri Bisbee, Mitchell Needelman, Maitland Finley and Robert Finley, in addition to 13 grandchildren.
