Siena College lacrosse coach Liam Gleason dies at 41 after fall at residence

Siena College lacrosse coach Liam Gleason died this week at age 41, a number of days after struggling a critical fall at his residence in Halfmoon, N.Y.

Gleason died on Wednesday after sustaining a traumatic mind damage three days prior when he reportedly fell down a flight of stairs, in response to the native Occasions Union.

Gleason is survived by his spouse, Jaclyn, and three youngsters: daughter Kennedy and sons Penn and Tate.

He was surrounded by household, pals and gamers on Wednesday earlier than he was taken into surgical procedure for organ donation.

After a standout enjoying profession on the College at Albany, Gleason labored as an assistant lacrosse coach at Siena and his alma mater earlier than taking the highest job on the Franciscan college in 2018.

“From a standout student-athlete to a dedicated member of the coaching staff, Liam poured his heart into the Capital Region lacrosse community and left an indelible mark on everyone he met,” UAlbany mentioned in an announcement. “His passion, leadership and friendship will be deeply missed.”

Gleason, who was initially from Wading River, led the Siena Saints to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Convention championship and the NCAA event this previous season, his seventh on the Loudonville faculty.

“A sudden, senseless loss carries a kind of pain that defies understanding,” Siena President Chuck Seifert mentioned in an announcement. “It’s hard to imagine anyone more universally loved and admired than Liam. Our community was blessed by Coach Gleason’s life.”

A funeral shall be held on Saturday on the UHY Heart on Siena’s campus, in response to faculty officers.

A fundraiser set as much as assist help Gleason’s household had raised almost $680,000 as of Thursday night.
