Staten Island bakery denies refusing Whoopi Goldberg’s order over politics

A Staten Island baker is feeling the warmth after allegedly refusing an order for Whoopi Goldberg because of her political beliefs.

Jill Holtermann, the proprietor of New York state’s oldest bakery in Nice Kills, recognized herself because the unnamed one that Goldberg referred to as out Wednesday throughout her stay birthday celebration on “The View.”

She claims the explanation for not fulfilling the order for a number of dozen Charlotte Russe muffins — an old style deal with also called “Brooklyn ambrosia” — was not politically motivated.

“They’d asked us and we were having trouble with our boilers,” Holtermann defined to Leisure Weekly. “I said to Whoopi, ‘I can’t do it right now. We have so many things going on with my boiler,’ because the building is from 1930, so, when she called me, I had no idea [if we could] be baking everything.”

The third-generation bakery proprietor informed the outlet that Goldberg had requested the desserts two weeks prior, however rejected the advance order because of the defective gear.

She did affirm that an unidentified lady picked up the 50 requested desserts from the bakery early Wednesday morning. Holtermann mentioned she didn’t need to make the dedication earlier with out realizing if she might fulfill the order.

Based on the Staten Island Advance, Holtermann informed prospects Thursday morning that her small enterprise had been bombarded with calls within the day since Goldberg introduced her order had initially been refused.

“I just want to run my business,” she reportedly informed one caller. “That’s all I want to do.”

Goldberg, on Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” defined her aspect of the story, however by no means named the bakery in query.
