Catcher Jose Trevino is on his method to the Cincinnati Reds.
In trade for the 32-year-old, the Yankees obtained right-handed pitcher Fernando Cruz and catcher Alex Jackson, the staff introduced Friday.
The catcher swap slots Jackson in a backup position behind starter Austin Wells, who appeared in 115 recreation for the Yankees in 2024. Jackson appeared in 58 video games with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2024, slashing .122/.201/.237 with three homers and 12 RBI. He’s getting into his sixth season within the majors after spending time with the Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers and Rays.
The Yankees land Cruz after the reliever completed 2024 with a 3-8 file and a 4.86 ERA in 69 video games (three begins). He owns a profession 4.52 ERA in 147.1 innings pitched with the Reds.
That is Trevino’s second time getting dealt in his profession. He arrived within the Bronx after the Texas Rangers shipped him again in 2022. He performed 243 video games with the Yankees, slashing .230/.279/.361 with 23 house runs and 86 RBI. Upon arrival within the Bronx, the catcher displayed elite framing behind the plate. His fielding on the place earned him a Gold Glove with the Yankees in 2022.
