WASHINGTON (AP) — Flight reductions at 40 main U.S. airports will stay at 6% as a substitute of rising to 10% by the top of the week as a result of extra air site visitors controllers are coming to work, the Division of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration introduced Wednesday.

The companies stated the choice follows suggestions from the FAA’s security crew, after a “rapid decline” in controller callouts. The flight disruptions have been applied through the authorities shutdown, the longest in historical past.

The 6% restrict will keep in place whereas officers assess whether or not the air site visitors system can safely return to regular operations, the companies stated.
