Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar accused President Trump of getting an unhealthy obsession together with her, one which requires medical consideration, after he referred to the Somali native as “garbage.”

“We can go one way or the other, and we’re going to go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country,” Trump stated throughout a Tuesday Cupboard assembly that touched on many matters, together with immigration.

“Ilhan Omar is garbage. She’s garbage. Her friends are garbage,” Trump added, attacking the whole Somali diaspora in the US.

Omar’s household fled Somalia to flee the civil battle when she was 8 years previous, in response to her Home of Representatives biography web page. After spending 4 years in a Kenyan refugee camp, her household arrived in New York in 1995 earlier than ultimately settling in Minneapolis.

Trump — who’s stated he’s by no means met Omar — has verbally attacked the 43-year previous lawmaker on a number of events.

Throughout his first time period in 2019, he accused her of professing “love” for al-Qaeda and requested why politicians from “totally broken” international locations don’t return to their homelands to repair the “crime-infested places from which they came.” In September of this 12 months, he in contrast Omar to “scum.”

He picked up the tempo once more this week after conservative activist Christopher Rufo revealed unsubstantiated allegations, citing unnamed sources, that cash stolen from Minnesota packages has gone to al-Shabab, an al-Qaeda-linked group that controls elements of Somalia.

Omar punched again at Trump’s feedback on social media Tuesday.

“His obsession with me is creepy,” she posted on X. “I hope he gets the help he desperately needs.”

Based on the president, Somalis “contribute nothing” and shouldn’t be allowed into the Unites States.

“Their country is no good for a reason,” the president stated Tuesday. “Your country stinks and we don’t want them in our country.”

His feedback got here after he vowed final week to ship Somalis “back to where they came from,” and claimed that Minnesota, residence to the US’ largest Somali neighborhood, is “a hub of fraudulent money laundering activity.”
